These workshops make hospitality training easy

Challenges with your team?

Workshops are a great way to resolve friction between teams and give professional development without singling struggling individuals out.

Teaching isn’t your strength?

There’s no doubt you know your stuff, but teaching is very different to doing. I’ve been delivering hospitality workshops for nine years, and I'm a specialist at teaching groups.

Tired of banging the same drum?

I may teach your team many of the things you would, but it hits harder because I’m out there every day working with other hospo businesses and I’m a fresh voice.

Hospitality training that delivers results

Motivate and grow your team

Successful hospo leaders are passionate about investing in their teams knowledge. Training not only grows your business, it also keeps your team engaged.

Upskill at the start of season

If you’ve an influx of employees at the start of peak season, workshops are ideal to onboard everyone quickly and help everyone understand your culture fast.

Get everyone on the same page

Workshops build a stronger team. Learning together defuses any tension between your kitchen crew and front of house and helps your leaders communicate better with your staff.

Deliver training your people love

My training is relatable, fun, and full of hands-on-learning for practical hospo people.

That’s why my workshops get great feedback.

Hands-on learning for practical people

People who work in hospo aren’t naturally inclined to sit still, and academic learning isn’t always their wheelhouse. You know your leaders will be into training, but you’re not sure how your servers and chefs will respond.

I’ve been a server and a chef and a hospitality business owner, so I get it. Hospo staff learn by doing. So, I make learning fun and hands-on.

Tom Mahoney - Abandoned Breweries

"Liz was extremely knowledgeable and her content was very engaging. I would happily recommend this to anyone who wants to improve their businesses systems around COGs."

Holly MacPhail - Little Green Olive

"I really enjoyed Liz's teaching style and her passion was infectious. I really loved how she was all about looking after her people as this is something I am passionate about and too often it's sidelined in businesses."

Sarah Coles - Dark Horse Coffee

"Liz is so genuine and a great presenter. She made it easy to understand and helped me lean into some different thinking around service and hospitality."

Four popular workshops on hospitality fundamentals

The first half of each workshop covers essential theory. Then I bring theory to life with practical exercises focused on tasks your team do every day. All workshops are customised to emphasise the things that matter most to you.

Cost of Goods Mastery

This 3-hour workshop starts with financial literacy 101. Understand key financial metrics that drive profitability and learn best practices to manage your financial health. Then master stock control strategies to minimise waste, manage costs, and improve financial performance.

Develop your Leadership

This 6 hour group coaching session focuses on building strong, people-centred leadership

through the foundations of servant leadership and practical forward-planning. Attendees will

explore what defines servant leadership, what it offers their teams, and how it supports healthier

workplace culture and performance.

Hospitality Sales and Marketing

This 3-hour workshop focuses on marketing fundamentals beginning with the art of hospitality. In the second half we look at what matters to your guests, create customer avatars, and turn marketing strategies into actionable plans to bring your hospitality vision to life.

People and Culture

A 6-hour workshop starting with the foundations of a great employee experience. Gain practical tools to support you to train, mentor, and coach your team. Understand stages of adult learning, communication styles, how to plan good training, and how to measure results.

I also develop bespoke hospitality workshops

If you need a workshop developed especially for your team, email me, and we’ll schedule a meeting to talk about what you’d like them to learn.

Organising a workshop is easy.

We plan your workshop together.

We’ll talk through what you want to achieve with your workshop. Are you wrestling with particular problems, are you looking to motivate your team, or are you trying to get people on the same page?

I need to know:

  • Who's going to be in the room.

  • What you want your people to learn.

  • What you see as a successful workshop.

  • Your budget and timeline.

You’ve a lot to coordinate, so we’ll get a date locked in as soon as we can.

I’ll send you a list of the things I need for the workshop. It’s pretty short and straightforward. Your most important job is to provide food.

I deliver your workshop

I email your attendees before the workshop to brief them on what the workshop’s about, when and where it is, what to expect, and what to bring.

On the day, I deliver a fun, practical workshop that gets everyone engaged.

I follow up afterwards

I email attendees the presentation slides, additional resources, and a link to my calendar so people can book a call if they need extra support.

If you need me to survey attendees for feedback, I can do that for you. Most associations and economic development agencies handle feedback, but if you don't have that covered, I'm happy to request feedback on your behalf.

Hospitality workshop FAQs

What’s a sensible lead in time for a workshop? how far out should we book?

If you’re running a public workshop for hospitality businesses in your region, you may want to leave enough time to apply for funding and do promotion. Usually when I run workshops for economic development agencies and hospitality associations, they like to book things in at least a couple of months out.

If you want to run a workshop for your team, I’ll fit around your schedule, and we’ll book a day that works for you. Hospitality businesses often like to run workshops at the start of the week, because things get busier as the week goes on.

In your discovery call we’ll decide on a date that works for everybody.
